Hopeless Romantic

Hopeless Romantic

I’m a hopeless romantic
A hapless modern man
Born in a stagnant time
In an apathetic land
Hoping for that sunny day
But praying for the rain
And living life as fully as I can

Give me a pirate sailing ship
A twenty-gun man of war
You know I‘ll always love you girl
I’ll beat down your door
You know I’ve always wanted
A black patch on my eye
And sail along some exotic, silent shore

To team up with John Carter
that great warlord of Mars
and to fight for Deja Thoris
Out among the stars
to wield a ray gun pistol
or swing a mighty sword
is all that I ask for – no more

I’ll climb inside the Tardis
and travel back in time
Like Dr. Who of TV fame
Battling aliens, space, and crime
I see myself a poet, a hobo, and a thief
And many times a lonely chimney sweep

I’m a hopeless romantic, a hopeless romantic
A hopeless romantic, that’s me
But please don’t pity me
that’s just how I want to be
A hopeless romantic, that’s me
