As I Seize It

As I Seize It

To my Celtic cousin, Daniel B
Here’s a poem to you from me
I read your rhymes with savory relish
But poems and songs I don’t embellish
(Except for the one of being Welish)

You allude to times way back when
As sweeps and painters we did ascend
To glorious heights now deemed obscene
Are you still sniffing that varnoline?
(Took twenty gallons to get us clean)

by John H Thomas Jr

Just for the record, here’s more to scorn
Saint Patrick was a Welshman born
Now life’s a riddle, but please don’t tease it
And time is ripe, but please don’t squeeze it
(At least that’s the way the Skeeter seize it)
